OJ again

There have been a few people who have commented on my statement that I thought OJ Simpson was innocent of the two murders everyone assumes he got away with. I left the thought dangling until I had more time to go into the facts that persuaded me of his innocence, and people apparently assumed that I was saying he was framed. I’m not necessarily saying he was framed, just that he was innocent.

Here are a few of the reasons I believe this:

1. I don’t believe that the history of violence in the relationship points at an escalation to murder.

2. I don’t see what OJ’s motives could have been.

3. Mark Fuhrman’s racism was captured on tape and clearly established.

4. The Los Angeles police have a long history of corruption and poor relations with the black community there.

5. Kato Kaelin said he heard three raps on the back wall near an air conditioning unit in his room. Why would someone who had just committed murder draw attention to himself by rapping needlessly on a wall?

6. It was because of Kaelin’s report that Fuhrman climbed over the wall into the backyard…by himself….and just happened to find a bloody glove.

7. Dr. Henry Lee, the best the US can offer up as an expert on forensic sciences and drawing evidence and conclusions from crime scene physical evidence, said it was impossible for the murders to have occurred the way the LAPD and prosecutor’s portrayed it.

8. Yes, there was blood evidence linking Simpson to the crime scene, but there were two big problems with it.  a.) If he has been the murderer there would have been far more of a blood trail than was found, and b.) the way the police handled the blood samples drawn from Simpson while in custody is exactly how you would handle the samples if you were going to plant evidence against someone. Not saying they did, but if they didn’t, their mistakes opened it up to the possibility.

9. William Dear, one of the foremost private investigators in America, funded his own investigation of the crimes and wrote a book about it. From my experience reading about cases and training in the field of PI work, I consider Dear a credible source and value his opinions and input. He came to some startling conclusions simply by taking the time to meticulously go over the evidence that the police had right under their noses. This evidence led him to the conclusion that OJ did not commit the murders, but that the evidence pointed to someone else within his close circle.

I would like to make this caveat though. I have the greatest respect for law enforcement, but I also acknowledge the fact that police forces have restraints of time and budget that sometimes don’t work toward finding the absolute truth. There are times when I believe private investigation can yield more truth, as I believe it does in this case.

There is a mountain of evidence, some of it quite shocking, that points to someone else. Soon I hope to write a blog containing all of it. So I will keep you in suspense until then.
