I thought, with all the Beatles’ great songs, if I made a top 40 list it would probably be way out in left field. But I was surprised how similar my favorites were when compared to an on-line poll conducted in 1998.

Here are my Top 40 songs by the best Pop/Rock Band of all-time. The number in parenthesis will be how the song placed in the on-line poll, so you can compare. there were over 200 songs to choose from.

I’ll do like Casey Kasem and start with 40 and build the incredible drama. haha.

Hey! I got the top three right, just in a different order.

Here are the highest rated songs from the list that I didn’t have in my top 40:

#4–In My Life

#12–Here, There, and Everywhere

#15–Revolution

#19–Rain

#22–I’m Only Sleeping

#25–She Loves You

#26–Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds

#29–I Will

#30–Day Tripper

#33–And Your Bird Can Sing

#37–Paperback Writer

#39–I Want To Hold Your Hand

Wow! There are a lot of people that will argue that this or that band is the best ever. But where are the songs to back it up? Right here is where they are, and this is just a sampling. There are more than 20 songs that rank lower than 100 on this list that are better than many bands BEST !!!

i agree with your list more than the online poll. the beatles catalog is untouchable…..i dont think we will ever see another artist in our lifetime with such a dense and important contribution to pop life again. and to think we are not even including ANY of the solo work….Paul’s stuff is whole other thing that stands as one of the best catalogs one earth seperate from the beatles!!!!!!!!!!
